Transportation Improvement Program

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is produced annually as required by federal regulations issued jointly by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).  In its simplest form, the TIP is a prioritized listing of transportation and transit projects proposed for implementation during future federal fiscal years for the region.  Through an identified Public Participation Program (PPP) that establishes procedures utilized to ensure a "proactive public involvement process ... in developing plans and TIPs", the Montachusett Joint Transportation Committee (MJTC), the Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART), the MRPC, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division work cooperatively to develop the TIP.
