Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee (MRCEDS)

In 1994, the communities within the Montachusett Region worked in cooperation with the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) to create this region’s first Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy or CEDS. MRPC has a current contract with the federal Economic Development Administration to deliver economic development technical assistance to communities such as grant writing and economic study and analysis. Also, the Montachusett Region Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (MRCEDS) is updated every five years.

MRPC provides staff support to the CEDS committee which meets jointly at least three times per year. Members have several roles and activities including but not limited to providing guidance on regional economic issues, periodical updates and amendments of the CEDS document (input, draft reviews, and adoption), guidance, direction, and advice concerning grant opportunities.

The makeup of the CEDS committee is in full compliance with EDA Regulations regarding Board Composition according to Section 304.2(c), Organization and Governance. Board includes five members of the private sector and six members from the public sector. Meetings are generally held at MRPC offices. To confirm CEDS Meetings please check our website calendar.
