Welcome to
the MRPC.
The Montachusett
Regional Planning Commission is in its fourth decade of providing
technical planning assistance to its 22 member communities.
Located in north central Massachusetts, the MRPC
was formed in 1968 under the State Enabling
Legislation, Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40B and is one of
thirteen agencies across the Commonwealth. The MRPC is not a
federal, state, or county agency but rather, it is a regional advisory
board consisting of representatives from each member community.
Our purpose is to carry out comprehensive regional planning in the
Montachusett region, an area of approximately 685 square miles that is
home to some 228,000 individuals (2000 Census).
MRPC is
available to provide a wide variety of services to its member
communities including economic development studies and initiatives,
drafting of applications for state funding on behalf of a community,
administering grants, traffic studies, zoning and subdivision updates,
assistance with town master plans and open space plans, mapping
assistance through our Geographic Information System (GIS) and many
other services.

MRPC Seeks
Local Input in Development of the TIP. As part of the
annual development of the Montachusett Transportation
Improvement Program (TIP), the MRPC seeks input from interested
organizations, agencies and citizens. The TIP is a prioritized
listing of transportation and transit projects proposed for
implementation during the next four federal fiscal years and is
the product of a comprehensive, continuing and cooperative
effort to improve the regional transportation system by local
officials, the Montachusett Joint Transportation Committee (MJTC),
the Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART), the MRPC and
the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).
Discussions related to the development of the FFY 2012-2015
Montachusett TIP will continue to be held over the next few
weeks at meetings of the MRPC, the MJTC and the MPO. As such,
we invite those organizations, agencies, local boards and
citizens with an interest or responsibility for planning that
may be affected by transportation in the Montachusett region
provide their input to the draft development process. For
