DCR Groundwater Flooding Survey

The University of Massachusetts Hydrology group is leading a Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) funded project assessing statewide groundwater flooding risk. We hope to improve our analysis by incorporating public input on groundwater flooding.

Groundwater flooding can occur when rain or snowmelt events infiltrate and cause shallow groundwater to rise such that it affects basements, septic systems, and similar infrastructure and can even rise above ground causing ponding or runoff.
